The Productivity You Don't See
Happy Thursday, friends!
Last Monday, I stayed up until 1am doing homework. When I finally got into bed, my daughter had woken up. I fed her and got her back to bed, but she continued to wake up every hour until 3am. Which honestly, 1-3 isn't that long considering she slept for a long time prior and longer than 1 hour after 3am. BUT, I had to get up at 5:45am to get ready for work. Overall, i got about 4ish hours of sleep, but I still worked my full work day.
I had told a really good friend of mine about it, and she called me:
Full time mother student and business woman
Then, she later called me superwoman, which felt great. More importantly, it made me feel empowered, and I was amazed at how someone else could see me in such a productive way.
That might sound silly, but often times I feel bad for not doing more. For most of the week, my dishes are dirty, my laundry isn't put away, my living room is messy, my daughter's toys are everywhere, and sometimes I can't find enough energy to cook dinner. Yes, I do homework, but often, it's the bare minimum.
Now, it's not always that way. Last night I was able to wash dishes, clean up the living room, and do homework before bed. I'm hoping tonight that I will be able to at least start laundry.
Overall, with that in my mind, I naturally protested. My exact response was:
When you put it that way, it makes me seem more productive than I actually am 💅
After this text, she called me superwoman and continued being super encouraging.
The point I'm trying to get across is that if you feel like you're not doing enough, or you feel unproductive, just know that there is probably someone else who thinks the exact opposite. You should acknowledge all the tasks you do, whether they're big or small!
